The
San Juan Defensive Pistol Association has been affiliated with The
International Defensive Pistol Association since October 2000. SJDPA is a
chance to practice Defensive shooting skills in a competitive environment.
Shooters
are divided into four firearm divisions, depending on action type and
caliber. Shooters compete in five different classifications, based on skill
level. A special 90 round classification match is held three times per year
and additional classifiers as necessary. In a match you compete only
against shooters in the same division and classification.
Regularly scheduled matches are held the first Sunday of every month.
Special matches are held occasionally, and shooters will be notified in
advance of any additional matches.
New
shooters are encouraged to first watch a match and ask questions, as there
are rules and procedures specific to IDPA. We have instructors available to
help with any problems and/or questions, and all new shooters must pass a
safety check, unless they have satisfactory credentials. SAFETY IS OUR
NUMBER ONE CONCERN !!!

2007 New Mexico State IDPA Championship
The 2007 New Mexico State IDPA Championship will be
held this year in Farmington NM. This will be the first time since 2003 that
SJDPA has hosted this event.
This year will prove to be a challenge to meet the
standard that was set by our friends in Las Cruces last year. They put on a
fine match, and we look forward to the task at hand. The match this year
will consist of 10 stages with a total round count of 120+. We have
incorporated a number of props including a mover to make this an interesting
match to shoot. This match will be open squadding.
The raffle table will be well supplied with prizes.
Anything from ammo to range bags to holsters. We will also be raffling off
at least 2 firearms.
The match sign in will take place in the range
clubhouse, starting at 7:00 p.m. on Friday the 5th of Oct. We
will also sign in last minute shooters on the morning of the 6th
at 7:00 a.m.
Shooting will commence at 8:00 a.m. and will be
completed that day. We will have our awards ceremony and raffle drawings
that evening at the range clubhouse.
